Lisa
Lynch (Everybody's Iyengar)
Lisa
has been practicing yoga since the fall of 2004. She
discovered yoga and the ability of the body to heal
itself through pranayama (breathing) and meditation,
during her struggle with chronic illness. Yoga gave
her the strength, emotionally and physically, to pursue
her dreams. Her passion and mission in life has become
focused on wellness. She would like to share the gift
of yoga with others. She
has trained in the many forms of Hatha Yoga, including
Iyengar, Vinyasa, Anusara, and Ashtanga. She is also
Reiki Certified, in the First Degree of the Usui System
of Healing, from the Oregon School of Massage.
Her training includes 100 hrs of Yoga Alliance Teacher
Training, Michel Bleire’s Anusara Teacher Training,
as well as many other classes and workshops. She has
extensively studied philosophy, pranayama, meditation,
alignment, and anatomy. Her ongoing training includes
studies with Ashtanga’s Michael Hamilton, workshops
and classes with Anusara’s Sarah Joy Marsh,
and many other inspirational teachers. In addition,
she is currently a student in the Fitness Technology
Program at Portland Community College, where she continues
her studies in anatomy, injury prevention, and exercise
science.
Erin
Vasquez (NIA)
Erin
is a certified White Belt Nia teacher. Erin was a
student of Nia for seven years before completing the
teaching intensive and certification process. She
has a dance background that began in childhood. She
took Jazz, Ballet and Tap for several years.
While in college Erin fell out of touch with the dance
community and stopped moving her body. Once out of
college she found herself at a job she didn’t
like, completely disconnected from body sensation,
and out of shape. Then she found Nia and that first
class began the transformation to a healthier body,
mind and spirit. Her passion for movement, freedom
of expression, and the connection to self and others
guides her journey to embody JOY through physical
sensations.
Carisa
Day (Wake Up Yoga, Gentle
Yoga)
For
as long as I can remember Yoga has been a part of
my life. As a child I took yoga classes and had my
very own yogi movie collection! As I got older, many
styles of yoga began to unfold for me. Just like a
blossoming flower, I began to explore one petal of
movement at a time. These styles include Kundalini,
Vinyasa, Anusara, Polarity Yoga, ‘Hot’
Yoga, Kripalu Yoga and Yin Yoga.
All of my classes are fun and light hearted much like
my own personality. I enjoy teaching the dance of
Yoga and the awareness of Breath. I feel that my Yin
Yoga practice has influenced patience and allowed
me to deepen my practice. While Vinyasa and Kundalini
allowed me to explore the alignment, endurance and
strength of both the asana and pranayama. Yoga to
me is a style of life that is humbling, selfless,
and honest. But most of all FUN! I enjoy teaching
these values in my classes knowing that people of
any belief and age can utilize these teachings to
become a more wholesome and wise individual!
Erin Plattner (Yoga Basics,
Yoga Nidra)
Erin's
yoga career began several years ago in Asia, where
traditional yoga and meditation practices seeped into
her lifestyle. After returning to America and as a
newcomer to Portland, Erin blends her love of yoga,
Eastern philosophy and education in hopes of sharing
it with the Portland community through her Yoga Basics
and Yoga Nidra classes.
Kristin Odegaard (Hatha Yoga)
The
traditional acceptance of Yoga is a union between
the Jivatman and Paramatman, or simply, the common
thread that links one's individual consciousness and
the Universal Consciousness. Therefore Yoga refers
to a certain state of consciousness as well as to
methods that help one reach that goal or state of
union with the divine.
The vast science of Yoga can be summarized into 5
principles which are easy to understand and to include
in one's daily life. These five points are: Proper
Exercise; Proper Breathing; Proper Relaxation; Proper
Diet; and Positive Thinking & Meditation.
Kristin has been practicing yoga for ten years since
her early twenties to work on building self esteem,
confidence and strength. While in college, Kristin
took her formal training in hatha yoga through the
Sivananda Vendanta organization in Reith, Austria.
As a first year naturopathic medical student, Kristin
has a personal interest in the physiological and emotional
benefits that one can gain through maintaining and
consistent yoga practice. Her classes are playful
and personalized to various skill levels.

I
have been practicing yoga since 1998 and teaching
for over 5 years. My teaching style is eclectic and
caters to the diverse needs of the yoga students that
I teach. I try to offer students a yoga practice that
encourages non-judgment, playfulness, intention, and
fosters personal strength. I love being part of a
yoga student’s journey inward and outward. Currently,
I am also a graduate student at Portland State University
pursuing a master’s degree in Mental Health
Counseling.
Brandi
Parisi (sub)
Brandi
Parisi took her first yoga class at age ten with her
mother. She practiced off and on for the next several
years, finally developing a daily practice in 2000,
and completing her 200 YA teacher training in 2004-2005
at Cityoga in Indianapolis. She taught in Indianapolis,
Orlando and Los Angeles, before coming to Portland
last year.
Brandi
has a masters degree in philosophy, and teaches Asian
philosophy at Portland Community College. Her early
morning classes combine a strong vinyasa flow with
particular attention to alignment and centering, to
send students into the day energized and invigorated.
She also plans to incorporate off-the-beaten path
elements into morning classes, such as the storied
"5 Tibetans" and the moon salutation sequence.
